Hi! I just wanted to ask you about the pros & cons of keeping a pair of rats. Oh, and some basic info, too, please.
I think the nicest things about keeping rats are the fun, company and love that they bring. And personally I really love to decorate their cage. I can’t get enough of my rats. On the other hand there are a few downsides like vet bills that can easily get expensive and rats don’t get very old, at best they reach a year or three.
Some important things to know about them is that they need a fellow rat to keep them company, but because you’re talking about a pair of rats I figure you already know that.
A proper cage is also very important, here we have the rule that a cage for two rats should at least be 70x45x60cm big (length x width x height). You can find a “cage calculator” here.
If you don’t get the basic things right a rat can easily get stressed, which means they are more likely to get ill. I think this is the most important stuff. :)
